Students receive health insurance for the duration of the program (included in program fee).First-aid supplies are carried by appropriate program staff from city-to-city. Program staff will provide health and safety information to students, direct them to further resources when necessary, and address health and safety-related issues.
Our staff remains a resource to students before, during, and after the program. We emphasize to students the importance of staying with the program and only participating in program-sanctioned activities. During free time, students are counseled to be cautious and take personal responsibility for their own safety, security, and well-being. Students are encouraged to always stay in groups with other program participants. Only program participants are allowed in other participants’ rooms in the residence and accommodations. Professors and staff are onsite at all accommodations and accompany students on all program-related activities.
Although no one can guarantee a student's safety, security, and well-being at home or abroad, we take active measures to mitigate risk and ensure that students make the most of their experience. We require that students carefully read the Student Handbook provided prior to departure to Europe. There are several health and safety-related guidelines in the Student Handbook that must be adhered to and waivers that must be signed prior to the start of the program.
